I like my work to combine imagination — whether it’s fairy-tale wonder, the dark edge of faerie, the adventurousness of fantasy, or the optimism/pessimism of science fiction — with a down-to-earth humanity, characters who feel real, with real reactions, real emotions, and a genuine sense of individuality.

I aim for a balance between cartoonish liveliness and involving realism to make my pictures feel like they’re telling a story.
