The Sad Pirate

The Sad Pirate (illustration)
I sometimes sit and wonder
At all this useless plunder
I’ll maybe dig myself a pit
And bury it
So many doubloons of gold
Only make me feel old
To think of all I’ve lost
And the cost
Too many mates have fallen
Into the Devil’s Cauldron
In passionate pursuit
Of this loot
I would not like to measure
My life in terms of treasure
But what else have I got?
Just this lot.
And what a jolly lot it is!
